Our Fire & Security Department provides specialist fire and security services to Irish Rail, supporting critical rail infrastructure across Ireland through our current Fire & Security maintenance framework.
Our dedicated team has extensive experience delivering and maintaining fire alarm systems, CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, intercom systems, emergency lighting and associated life-safety systems within complex, operational environments. Our role encompasses planned preventative maintenance, reactive callouts, fault finding, repairs, upgrades and installation works, with a strong focus on system reliability, compliance and minimising disruption to rail operations.
Led by an experienced Fire & Security management team and supported by skilled technicians, we have developed significant expertise in delivering responsive, high-quality services across the rail network. Our ability to operate within a safety-critical environment, manage a nationwide service requirement and respond effectively to the demands of a major infrastructure client demonstrates the depth and capability of our Fire & Security operation.

Colin Burke Electrical (CBE) demonstrated very early on in the project (Woodbrook DART Station) their extensive railway knowledge and experience having worked on multiple large-scale projects in major stations in the country such as, Connolly Station, Heuston Station, and most recently Cork Kent and currently Galway Ceannt Station.
The project team were able to provide a procurement schedule early on in the construction stage which identified items that had long lead times which could have impacted programme if not acted upon early and were proactive in the technical submittals process to ensure all items were approved for install well in advance to ensure there were no delays when M&E works proceeded after an extensive civils and steel works programme were close on completion.
CBE were able to mobilise and complete the installation to a very high installation standard in a tight time frame. Their Health and Safety record was exceptional which is key in a live railway environment along with having the added complexity of live Over Head Power Lines which are essential to maintaining the continuous operation of the DART. The installation was very well received from all IÉ internal Stakeholders and Maintainers due to the very high standard of installation. Their railway knowledge was key at the critical commissioning stage which required extensive collaboration with IÉ Internal Stakeholders.
We are sure we will see CBE on future IÉ projects due to their high standard of work on the multiple Railway projects they have delivered and wish them well in the future.
We recently delivered Woodbrook DART Station, a landmark project on the Dublin/Wicklow border, which is the first new station on the DART Network for 15 years. We appointed Colin Burke Electrical, following an intensive procurement process, as we believed they were uniquely positioned in terms of expertise and capability to carry out the works. We had no existing relationship with CBE as we had not had a subcontract element of this type for over 15 years. Any concerns we had about the lack of existing relationship was quickly erased as the CBE team integrated seamlessly into our project management team, taking the lead in all aspects of the electrical elements, whilst also aligning fully with our collaborative, project first approach. CBE managed all documentation and site installation works impeccably. We were provided an excellent service by CBE and look forward to working with them again.
