Glin Court – Housing for the Elderly

Colin Burke Electrical have been awarded the role of Electrical Contractor on this project working alongside Purcell Construction Ltd and Dublin City Council, with works commencing in March 2024.

This new housing development in Coolock, in the North East of Dublin City will replace an existing housing complex, featuring 32 high-quality homes designed specifically for older people. Alongside these residences, there will be a landscaped courtyard for residents’ enjoyment. Additionally, a modern community centre and kitchen will be built, offering services not only to the residents of Glin Court but also to the surrounding area, including a meals-on-wheels service. The design adheres to the National Disability Authority’s recommendations, ensuring accessibility for wheelchair users, with ground floor units fully adaptable for wheelchair-dependent living. The entire scheme will feature level access, both internally and externally, and the community building and its facilities will be fully wheelchair accessible.

The strategy of the electrical design is to provide a safe, effective, and user-friendly environment while delivering an energy efficient installation and achieving optimal ambient conditions for the client and future occupants of the space.

As Electrical Contractor the scope of work will include the supply, installation, connection, testing and putting into service the complete electrical works as specified and as indicated on the drawings. It is the responsibility of the electrical contractor to ensure that all parts of the installations fully comply with relevant regulations, standards and codes of practice.

As always we will ensure that all relevant systems and installations are correctly designed, supplied, installed and tested in accordance with the relevant Codes of Practice, Regulations, Standards and Manufacturers Recommendations. The electrical installation will be complete in all respects to allow normal operation of all systems.
