Enfield Community School

Colin Burke Electrical was the main electrical contractor for the new 11,747 m² Enfield Community School in Co. Westmeath, delivered by JJ Rhatigan. The project was completed and handed over in August 2026, with the new school campus welcoming students and staff for the new academic year.

The development comprises a part three-storey, part two-storey building accommodating 1,000 post-primary pupils, including four Special Needs Units, a General Purpose Area, PE Hall, teaching spaces and staff accommodation. The wider development also included car parking, access roads, drop-off areas, ball courts, landscaping and an ESB substation.

Our scope encompassed the full electrical design and installation, including the incoming electrical supply and main switchboard, life safety systems, internal and external LED lighting, small power distribution, ICT infrastructure, CCTV, access control, fire alarm systems and EV charging points.

All electrical systems were designed and installed to meet the Department of Education’s technical standards, supporting a safe, energy-efficient and future-ready learning environment for the Enfield community.

The successful completion and timely handover of the project marks an important milestone for the local community, with the new campus now ready to welcome students and teachers.
